Hurricane Gap (25 miles)
Hurricane Gap is an awesome gravel road that connects to several other trails you can incorporate into your workout. With very low traffic and beautiful scenery there's no question as to why this is a favorite among riders.
The trail starts just 3 miles north of Hot Springs off of the US-25N/US-70W at Tanyard Gap. Download the STRAVA route to locate it easier.
From here, riders begin a rolling ascencion through the Rhododendron-lined trail. Riders will find themselves riding atop ridges, down into valleys and eventually will arrive at the Hurricane Gap crossroads where riders can stay straight to continue towards Paint Creek or turn left to reach the Rich Mountain Firetower. Following the trail towards Paint Creek, riders will continue through rolling slopes and ride parallel to several streams. Hurricane Gap is an exceptionally peaceful and challenging ride that is all the more rewarding by the lack of traffic and abundance of nature.
